Today, I lost a good friend and mentor. Even if you know that the inevitable will happen, it still is hard to process when it happens. Judy had unfailing determination to share her passion for flight and STEM. She had a dream to fly around the world, demonstrating the power of flight. She touched so many in far off places with her message, she will be remembered as the pilot who spread her joy in her red flight suit, with her Grumman, Chuck, affectionately known as "Up Chuck". She did not want friends to be sad when this happened, but for the moment, I am. Fly high friend......

I have known Judy since I was 18 - I am now 62. She is a tremendous lady and has gone through many obstacles to create what she has. She was also my youngest daughter's Godmother. Always thinking of you!

Had dinner with her and Buzz Aldrin once. She left a lifelong impression on me. Exceptional lady! So sad to hear this.

My good friend Capt. Judy Rice standing in front of the library named for her at Epic in New Smyrna Beach, the flight academy we worked together at. In addition to being recognized as one of the most accomplished instructors in the nation, Judy had earned fame by flying a Mustang around the world with Buzz Aldrin as her passenger as well as setting a world speed record. She inspired so many flight students over the years. There are many professional pilots flying today that were nurtured under her wing as her students. I am heartbroken to hear of her passing this week. You will be missed by so many, Judy. Thanks so much for your friendship and all the love you sent our way. Clear skies and tailwinds, buddy. I’ll see you on the other side.
